THE FORWARD hates intelligent comments

Seems the Jewish (once Yiddish) publication, THE FORWARD, has an administrator who opposes scholarly comments on articles – thus, proudly deletes them.

The most recent action was my comments on their review of a new book -- “Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth” By Reza Aslan, a Religious Scholar, Phd, author, who happens to be Muslim … and seem to have written a book for Random House which discusses the same material which opens my own 2012 book, “Saint Paul’s Joke”.  Specifically, Asian focuses on the history and events associated with the beginnings of the Jesus story.

The reviewer claims: “For the Jesus he finds when the accreted layers of centuries of worship are scraped off is rather different from the one we might be used to, and all the more interesting, human and relevant for that.

As covered in “Saint Paul’s Joke”, Jesus appears to have been real, human, and a scholar in a line of scholars.  As acknowledged by the reviewer: “Aslan, an Iranian born scholar, surveys the literature around Jesus — what we might know of a man of his time, what the Gospels tell us of his life, what we can discover from contemporary writings and archaeology — and weaves together this material into a highly convincing account of Jesus the man.”  But, in reality, had he read it, the reviewer would have realized that Asian has done little more than what was done in the opening chapters of “Saint Paul’s Joke”.

Is it “preposterous” that Jesus was born in Bethlehem?  On page 39 of “Saint Paul’s Joke”, I pointed out that, “On horse or camel, Bethlehem is a day’s journey from Jerusalem.”   Associating a trip to Jerusalem with the 6bce census was LUKE … who made it a universal requirement that all Jews go to their birth city (as opposed to Tribal area, or identify themselves with their Tribe) …  since there would be a record of such a highly disruptive requirement, it is “preposterous” that they were their as Luke describes.  But Mary was a Kohanim – or so we can assume from her relationship to the parents of John the Baptist … described with the words “thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her that is called barren.”  [cited on page 35 of “Saint Paul’s Joke” as part of Chapter “Birth of a Nazirite”]

Aslan points out, that Jesus would have been able to read or write – an idea which denies the fact he was doubtless a Kohanim who was certainly (via his mother) a cousin to the wife of a Temple Priest who routinely entered the exclusive inner sanctum.  His knowledge of scripture, and explicit quoting of Hillel, indicate he had a better than average education.  Added to which, he was raised in the territory set aside for scholars (we have no real knowledge of Joseph, other than the fact he made a living as a carpenter, but then, the Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, Hillel, was a woodcutter).  So we can say Asian screwed up of the education bit.

It is pointed out that Jesus “calls himself instead the “son of man”” – that he is mortal, we know the deity element comes in 100 years later … so Asian is OK here.  We are told by the reviewer that “Aslan asks, was Jesus crucified? “If one knew nothing else about Jesus of Nazareth save that he was crucified by Rome, one would know practically all that was needed to uncover who he was and why he ended up nailed to a cross…. His offence… was etched upon a plaque and placed above his head for all to see: Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews. His crime was daring to assume kingly ambitions.”” And here is where “Saint Paul’s Joke”  mentions something that Asian avoids concluding – Jesus was KING, or he had the right to assert a lineage that placed him in line for the throne held by the Roman Edomite puppets… Mary ha gotten pregnant while in Jerusalem; Joseph is specific is saying it isn’t his kid, but  for reasons of propriety  -- “political reasons” he would accept her and the child.  Mary might have been raped by Herod – so Jesus was Herod’s son and only Jewish Heir …

Why is this significant?  A) Jesus would be “King of the Jews”, as far as the Jews were concerned; B) it explains the killing of children myth.  NO! No all males were killed (in the Moses mold) by only the Jewish Heirs to the Thrown – we know that Herod killed his sons by the Jewish Queen Miriam … so why not a bastard son by Mary, who was in the line of David and related to an important Temple Priest?

Look at the quote asserted to have hung over the head of Jesus on the cross: “’Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.’ His crime was daring to assume kingly ambitions.”  Now, if we realize that the city of Nazareth does not appear to have existed in the era when Jesus was born (neither archaeological nor official textual evidence exists to show Nazareth existed before 100AD, even a city list by Josephus omits it).  So let’s say the quote refers to something written later from oral history … “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.”  might have read “Jesus THE NAZERITE, King of the Jews.”  Now it makes sense… John and Jesus were NAZERITE … that is, they were chosen by birth to speak/teach the Words of the Lord… they had a religious calling which was accompanied by intelligence and learning. … if you read, you will discover Sampson was another Nazerite … symbolized by the long hair and sexual abstinence during a specified period of purification/commitment.

The reviewer concludes: “Aslan’s triumph is not in original research or speculation. This is a deft, concise, respectful and accessible summary of — dare I say it? — the truth. It’s a summer afternoon’s read that explains, essentially, how Western civilization came to take the pattern we see today. And it’s hard to think of anyone, really, who wouldn’t benefit from reading it, if willing to accept its message. What’s most surprising is that a story so well accepted by scholars should still come as such a shock to us.”

But, with the exception of Herod (or one of his sons) being the father of Jesus, the same can be said for “Saint Paul’s Joke”

SO why would The Forward selectively delete comments which agree with, and augment, those of it’s reviewer?

Defense of Marriage Act = illegal

OK, finally … after the dishonesty of 1996, and Clinton’s failure of spine as reflected in his signing of DOMA, rather than issuing a VETO!

If these DOMA characters really wanted to “defend marriage”, they would have declared marriage a religious function and  declared the terms “marriage, married” and any related terms, as they appear in Federal Law,to now refer to Civil Unions Licensed by the States.

A marriage would hence forth be a ceremony officiated over by a religious figure and subject to the laws of the religious institution officiating (Hence, Catholics could not get divorced, Jews would require Rabbinical ‘Get’, etc).

They would also make it clear that Religious marriages are fully subject to religious tribunals, and are outside the jurisdiction of the Civil Courts.  Qualification for any State decreed, or provided, benefits would be available to those joined through Civil Unions, or any Religious marriages, providing they are licensed.  Thus, one can ‘marry’ without filing for a license – but they would have no Federal legal standing.

Failure to adhere to a Religious judgment would be deemed a ‘breech of contract’ and prosecuted in Civil Court by either the religious institution, or respective parties.  Civil Divorce Laws do NOT apply in religious marriages … and cannot be applied in any civil action.

The DOMA people will therefore get what they claim they seek, a declaration that marriage is a Divine Act.

Of course, because the DOMA people are hypocrites and have only harm as their goal, they will reject this.

Saint Paul’s Joke establishes here is no Biblical basis for the rejection of Gay Unions – but there is a clear and explicit basis to reject bi-sexual activities or any act of deception (“passing” or being “in the closet”).

Saint Paul’s Joke also establishes – chapter and verse – that the average Christian violates Romans 2:26 and therefore violates the basis for their religious salvation.

But DOMA people are happy with going to Hell – they just want to take everyone else with them.

Book Promotional Results

image

Well, it’ clear that people wanted to know the reason behind the extraordinary ages of the Biblical Patriarchs.  Apparently they didn’t realize that there were two related books also being offered.

They also seem to have overlooked Charting OMER, the Patriarch 49.

OMER, is a number, a numeric count equal to seven time seven.  It is by far the most interesting, though least utilized of the biblical numbers.

In each case, we have connected to Stonehenge and Genesis – but that is to be expected, assuming you have read “Grandpa Was A Deity” and therefore know the origins and connections of Hebrew culture, and its calendar.

“Charting The Patriarchs”

“Charting The Patriarchs” goes Live on KINDLE tomorrow, Monday 22 April 2013.
Though considerable smaller in size, it contains data not available in "Genesis of Genesis"; it also expands on the data that is available.
For the religious Christian, as with "Saint Paul's Joke", it deals with data lost to those who would hope to follow Jesus and have him as their advocate -- those without it are doomed to be among those who "will come in his name, but he will not know."
As we know from the Vatican requesting "Saint Paul's Joke", and the Pope then resigning, some people are worried ... LOL

Comments about Charting, or St. Paul’s Joke or Genesis of Genesis can be made on their respective Facebook pages.

Saint Paul’s Joke

Kindle Edition of Saint Paul’s Joke ($6.00)is available at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009DVS4QE

Print Edition of Saint Paul’s Joke ($14.95) is available at http://www.amazon.com/Saint-Pauls-Joke-Punch-Killer/dp/1469953919

Vatican Archivist sent a nice Thank You – dated 4 September 2012 for the two copies that they had requested – which were send in July.

This is probably the only chance for those who believe in Christian Resurrection to make sure they meet the basic requirements.  It seems Fortunate, for many of us, that most Christians are really anti-Christs … they just will not learn that before they stand before the Judgment Bar.  Though they should have realized it from reading the Gospels.  Comical aspect, those who never read the Gospels  actually have an advantage in gaining salvation.

I love it

Michelle Obama and scriptual warning

_____________________________________________________
Date Line June 21, 2008

Religious Right – have they ever read the Bible?

One must seriously question their Biblical Knowledge, or even their honesty. If we listen to their verbatim quotes we would assume they know what it says – which means they intentionally go against it.

Think about the silence there exists with regard to their mindless attacks on Michelle Obama. Think about Moses, Aaron and Miriam when Miriam badmouthed Moses’ black wife. Possibly the only time God personally appeared to Aaron and Miriam was to rebuke them for race based gossip and specifically for Miriam’s snide remarks about the wife of Moses.

Is Barack Obama the modern Moses? We’ll need to see if he can save us from the Bush/McCain style Pharaoh and point us to the promised land; but that possible future aside, let’s focus on how God viewed racism. He made his prophet, his seer, Miriam, a leper in punishment for her comments.

Think about the Bible Belt. Has it prospered by its post slavery racism? Or has it been the butt of many a joke – an intellectual leper, where it had been the home of one of our first major Universities and birthplace of some of our greatest minds (those who became our founding fathers). God does not suffer racists with grace – not even those he previously selected to be his earthly voice.

But then, there are those who do not tie a Bible to their had and speak in liars condensation to those who know what is moral and right. Of them we wonder where the feminist morality lies. Why do they seem to fear a strong, competent, educated wife, mother, and career woman?

Where are the Liberals and those who support equal rights for all? Why are they noticeably silent? Why when her campaign went the way I had said it would over a year ago, were those who supported Clinton so open in their statements of support for McCain? Does the race of a highly qualified candidate trump the good of the nation? Is their own self worth and the future of their children so meaningless that they would see all destroyed because the qualified candidate is married to a black woman?

This is not about the race of the candidate – his mom is white and he is a blood relation to both Dick Cheney and Harry Truman. Granted both those relatives were seen as unpopular, and Cheney is destined to keep that reputation while Truman surpassed his heritage to take a positive place in both American and World History.

Is Barack a part of our history? His family certainly is: Harry Truman, the president who brought World War Two to a victorious end; Christopher Clark, a decorated Union Officer. There was a probably false, certainly unestablished, connection to Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederacy; but even if real, it would be another National Leader in his bloodline.

Consider Bush one and two, all they can lay claim to is Prescott Bush – an American Senator, a racist and anti-Semite who helped fund Hitler and the Nazi war effort. We can see that traitor, anti-American conduct, runs in the Bush bloodline. We can see leadership there which believes in weakening our military, and not only plunging the nation into debt, but doing so to a nation which the Republicans had routinely branded as anti-God, anti-democracy and an enemy. At least Bush is consistent to both his roots and his Right-wing supporters.

What of the Heir-apparent to the Bush legacy? John McCain, a man who seeks victory in a religious sectarian civil war where the victor can only be an outside faction whose agenda includes our destruction and whose leadership has declared, as a primary goal, our incurring a Trillion Dollar deficit. Those with the ears to hear and eyes to see have already learned that we are nearly half way there – having gone from a budget surplus to record deficits without any national benefit.

It is now June. In November we either seal our fate, or move toward achieving our historic promise. Which objective is best served by the attacks on Michelle?
