Israel seems to be on target in Gaza

The head of statistics at the BBC, Anthony Reuben, posted this chart of Palestinian and Israeli deaths along with his study that raises new questions about the figures. (Image source: BBC)

BBC: “Among civilians, more than three times as many men were killed as women, while three times as many civilian men were killed as fighters, If the Israeli attacks have been ‘indiscriminate,’ … it is hard to work out why they have killed so many more civilian men than women.”

Note that when Hamas & other Suicide Bombers are at work, the deaths favor women and children as the largest body counts.  The numbers would indicate that known and unknown terrorists are being killed with collateral damage victims accounting for minor numbers of the dead.  One might say, it is highly possible that the some of the women are likely terrorist support operatives.

Of course, clear number would be known if Hamas acted like a military operation rather than a suicidal terrorist one.

Times analysis: the population most likely to be militants, men ages 20 to 29, is overrepresented in the death toll: They are 9 percent of Gaza’s 1.7 million residents, but 34 percent of the 1431 killed whose ages were provided.  Thus easily four times the number of terrorist aged males are killed as compared to random statistical probability.

However, we should note that dozens of names had been listed twice on the most frequently cited Palestinian casualty. Separately, in a list of 592 names, 42 were listed more than once.  So there is a question as to the validity of the total numbers, and given that ages are fixed to individually (not repeated) names, the probability is a count of proportion of terrorists representation is significantly higher than four time random probability.

The international media, is clearly trying to avoid causing trouble with a radical Islamist movement that carries out extra-judicial executions.  In short, the Media will accept Hamas lies at face value, rather than have to leave the region because its people are being murdered by Hamas.
